Following a second training day held at the Liverpool Archdiocesan Centre for Evangelisation last Friday, 9 July, sixteen more young people will be helping to spread the word online during the Papal Visit to the United Kingdom from 16-19 September 2010. The day followed the successful event held in London on 24 June aimed at involving young people in the world of communication, particularly through social media.
The Fathers of the Birmingham Oratory are delighted and honoured by the news that Pope Benedict will beatify John Henry Newman at Cofton Park in Rednal. This location is of tremendous significance. Cardinal Newman was buried in the cemetery at Rednal. But this was also the place where Newman and his community came for rest and recreation in the Lickey Hills.
In a statement on Saturday 26 June, Archbishop Bernard Longley, the Archbishop of Birmingham, said: "I am delighted that the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, will be coming to Birmingham on Sunday 19 September for the Beatification of Cardinal John Henry Newman.
